 I began painting landscapes last year after moving to Sharon Ct,. from New York City.I’ve a lways been a studio painter and have rarely worked with landscape except for

occasional trips to the ocean or mountains. What struck me most last year was the exceptionally strong shadows on the snow, the graphic quality seemed related in part to paintings I did in 2015 of construction sites and scaffold which had a strong geometric component.

All of my paintings deal with light. I might call that my primary subject, but I think painters have many subjects, I do love the landscape outside of the window here. That alone was a powerful motivation to paint it.
